Thanks, 25

A little souvenir from b25 from the basketball match just now..

And you know what, this is like the mildest “cheapest” souvenir. See Liang got a more expensive one, two abrasion wounds at both left and right forearm. Tatt.. i think he’s got bruises everywhere too.

Thanks guys.

Oh and uh.. Thanks for making the win more meaningful.

Right in your friggin ugly face(s).

Boiling hot la wei..

This post is supposed to be titled : Why Malaysian Lecturers Hate Indian Books.. but not very catchy if like that =P

Was reading about fever today. Came up with this :

“The definition of fever of unknown origin (FUO) is fever >101°C lasting for 3 weeks or more for which no cause is apparent after 1 week of outpatient investigation.”

Wow. 101°C eh. That’s 1°C hotter than the water i boil using my kettle.

New posting

Currently finished the first day of my third posting, Paediatrics postings at Dr. TMA Pai Rotary Hospital, Karkala.

Means i completed Community Medicine postings yesterday..

Com med was fun. and not very stressful. Now go to paediatrics posting starting to feel stressed again. And for 3 postings consecutively there will be Udupi postings at the weekends. Tiring la.  But on the bright side..

Yay! add 1 more day to for the countdown to CNY!

On a side note, it’s 36 more days to Christmas. like, wow. How did 2009 go by so quickly, unnoticed? What did i manage to achieve? Besides academics.. i guess nth much.. besides being able to make someone to hate me enough to ask me to get out of their life.. Where i still don’t know what did i do wrong.. argh.. Guess that' would be some sort of sick, twisted achievement.. =.= Maybe next year can attempt to double that number.. and the following year more..

Anyway..

I’ll stick to Windows 7 for now. Until it bugs me with Windows Live Messenger disconnects as frequent as my respiratory rate.

Anyhow credits has to be given to Microsoft, for being able to slim down Vista so much to produce a much light-weighted and faster Windows 7. Kudos.

D-G of Health’s visit to Manipal

A signboard was erected yesterday at the entrance of Manipal.edu and Library building.. It does make one wonder, who’s coming?

*roll the drums*

Director-General of Health, and President of Malaysian Medical Council,

Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Haji Mohd Ismail Bin Merican!

OMG!

DSC02104

So generally there’s a session for us to meet with Tan Sri at Chaitya Hall, Hotel Valley View.. Before that we had light refreshments at another hall.. but i  didnt have photos of it.. hehe

He came mainly for the inauguration of the MMMC Student Council..

Tan Sri delivering his speech

The speech is.. well.. very entertaining, very different from any speech I’ve heard before.. Like our dean has rightly pointed out, this would be the first time people would say “Noo….” when the person delivering the speech wants to end the speech. This really shows how we enjoyed listening to him, and his humorous stories..

So in the end, what did i learned?

I need to get a PDA phone. Why?

“Patients nowadays are more informed than they were before with the advent of information technology. Doctors must keep themselves updated with the latest developments in the field, to stay relevant.”

So.. If the patient asks about something new that I’ve never heard about, I can always ask to be excused to go to the toilet, and go search for info on the phone!

Community Medicine

Havent been blogging a lot lately. There’s like basketball training at late nights quite frequently. Usually from 10pm to midnight. Yeah i know it’s short. but usually after coming back i’m like totally drained.. If this goes on probably this old body of mine will break apart soon.. SIGH..

Anyway back to the topic..

I’ve had my community medicine posting since last thursday. Pretty cool.. Feels like primary school kids going on school trips around Manipal.. but the furthest we’ve had to travel is to Karkala, ironically to orientate us to the hospital.. hmmm..

The highlight of the posting :

DSC01913

A day of acitivty at Asha Nilaya, a home for the mentally challenged children..

DSC01922

Even though they are slow learners, they are as innocent as any other children.. They are as adorable as any other children..

DSC01941 Participating in a game of Tug of War

DSC02027 Then this game requires them to transport water-filled balloons from one pail to another..

but.. as the norm dictates.. when water balloons are involved..

DSC02066

The kids would play with it.. but that’s not all.. no..

DSC02071

Their teachers would start throwing water balloons..

DSC02086

Then all hell broke loose… WAR!!!

DSC02087

That was part of the morning with the children.. lazy to blog about the rest. =P

DSC02300

But it definitely was a nice experience.. =)
