Oh yeah!
There are only so many times I can declare that.
Don’t believe?
Come take my temperature. =(
what a time to get feverish man. on EOP week. gosh. panadol, you better work your magic, and fast!
Great. Christmas is over. Sure doesn’t feel like it’s christmas, especially with case sheets to write, log books to submit, and to study for viva on monday.
about slightly more than 5 days left remaining for 2010. Time to review the year’s resolution? and make new ones for next year? argh after end posting la.
Ophthalmology end posting in the coming week. Assessments on Monday, Thursday and Friday. Busy week ahead.
After that will be a busier start to 2011, kicking off with Medicine posting at Muar. highly energy-demanding postings to be expected.
Snowman!
The snowman made an appearance in AEON Jusco. But different from other snowmen this one is not made of snow.
It’s made of small plastic bottles!
So I’m guessing it should be called plasticman rather than a snowman? xD
This snowman has even got Malaysia book of Records certification, for being the biggest snowman made of plastic bottles, in Malaysia.
Merry Christmas people!
Sometimes in life we have to take spontaneous decisions that may seem crazy to others. I did just that last saturday. Went to PWTC at KL.
Why?
To attend the KL International Motor Show of course! =)
Being a motor show, of course there are a lot of automobiles. Here are some :
Proton Tuah concept. Love the design. Elegant. Rumoured to be the Persona Replacement model. It better be. =) Hope to see this car in production.
NISSAN 370Z ROADSTER! like It’s-so-cool-I’m-gonna-die. lol
Chevrolet Camaro S Transformer edition! aka BUMBLEBEE!
Autobots transform…
. . .
16 feet Bumblebee! =)
Too bad couldn’t go up close for a photo, need to queue AND pay rm15 for it.
Besides these they have all sorts of vehicles on display.. including..
Anyone fancy getting an ambulance? might save you a lot of time in traffic, especially with the siren on! xD
hmm. tons of photo to sort thru n upload. Havent got the time to do so yet. With the busy ophthal posting and the busier-still Medicine coming up, probably gonna be a while before the photos are up. =.=
In ophthalmology posting now. Entering 2nd week of the posting. Man there’s a lot more work to do compared to ENT. Patutlah people call ENT as Easy-No-Tension posting. Or the ORL (Otorhinolaryngology) as Orang Rilek dan Lepak.
Geez. Gonna be a tough week ahead.
I WiLL SURVIVE! =)
During the last Festival of Lights, I went to i-City at Shah Alam.
Went there with Chea Fann n Phei Woon. Drove there using PW’s car. of course, with the guidance of Garmin. =)
Definitely a pretty place. Unfortunately my photographs don’t do it much justice. =( Need an external flash. AND a clean lens that’s not fungus infested.
Check out the rest of the photos on my FB album la. Can’t really upload them all here, line capped again..
what? it’s halloween already?
It’s the last day of october?? where did the time disappear to?? T.T
Orthopedics bedside endposting tomorrow. So damn lot to read. Hope don’t panic n forget everything tomorrow. =( URGH…
Stupid O&G’s “new” style of delivering lectures.
PFFT.
these half-assed sessions are not called lectures.
I guess the whole purpose is to make everyone do badly at O&G, increase the failure rate, which eventually would generate more revenue for the friggin college?
Damn.
1 week sem break is over.
Back from holiday at Kuching.
Officially a 4th year medical student.
My old posting group was dismantled. Was rearranged into another group, group E2. Starting with orthopedics posting of 8 weeks duration.
Planning to find time to blog more.. several stuff to post. =)
First day of 4th year medical student felt nothing like first day. Tiring. I guess from now on no more easy life eh? SIGH.
and..
Bought tickets to go back for CNY!! =)
will try to blog again soon.
I like this very much. Taken at 6.54am on 18 August 2010. From my hostel. =)
I just woke up so was lazy to take out the dslr. So this was taken using my Cyber-shot T20. still not bad eh. hehe.
Here’s some more :
Composition is poor i know. And would’ve been better if i had more zoom. but oh well. =)
Well there’s actually 1 more day of posting left. Then only finish semester 6, the clinical postings portion. Coming up next would be the sessionals. SIGH.
Ward Work tomorrow. To go or not to go.. hmmmm….
Just a hypothesis anyway.
Here goes
my points would be:
Also,
Hence,
lol basically another crap post on a sunday.
But seriously stress hormones are definitely on the high side nowadays. Sessionals coming next monday (23 Aug). AND there are soo many revisions to be done until then. IF there was a study week then still ok la. but noooo.. It’s the final week of medicine posting.. There’s EOP on Tues, Prof Choo’s coming on Wed, Wed afternoon there’s Medicine 2nd Block test, there’s a case sheet due, PLUS the need to revise for sessionals. Gosh even if i get 48 hours a day i think i’ll really have to struggle to finish all these.
=(
i guess pretty soon it’s going to be “coffee more than blood in my blood vessels” (Eugene Mah, 2010)
Anyone else has got a better solution to control sleepiness?
Yesterday evening while using the laptop, all of the sudden the CPU fan became very.. noisy. Abnormally noisy. Like the sound that failing fans in the cooling pads sound. CPU temperature shot up to 85 degrees Celsius. Had to immediately shut down the laptop and perform an emergency laptop-otomy. =P
So, i borrowed Kelvin’s old laptop, fired up Dell Inspiron 6400’s Service Manual, and the operation went underway.
and when i reached the innards of the laptop, this is what i got:
Note : the following image may be gruesome to some, so please do NOT consume any form of food when viewing to avoid undue emesis
Is that fungus or dirt? *Holy crap*
the growth/dust collection was honestly gross. Basically need to scrape off the whole thing from the surface of the fan. And then slowly brush out all the other dirt from inside. Well i guess that’s what you get for never cleaning it up in what, 3 years of almost twenty-four-seven use. Very impressed by the fact that it still managed to spin with all those things growing on it. ewwww
After waging war on it for roughly 20 minutes i got this:
Not bad for a first attempt eh? =)
Here’s the difference between before and after the cleaning
That’s a LOT of difference! Suffice to say now it is working well, and it managed to lower my usual CPU temp of around 66-70°C to the 56°-60°C now.
Total time used for the whole procedure?
2 and a half hours.
Verdict : Success!
Hopefully no complication will arise la. =)
For a self-proclaimed geek, I have miserable connection to the net. =(
being capped for 25 days out of a month is really just sad.
I WANT UNLIMITED INTERNET ACCESS THAT IS FAST
man..
oh well at least by writing this post it reinforces my position as a geek. hehe.
Entering 6th week of Surgery posting. The final stretch.
Must… Come.. Out.. ALIVE!
*cue “I WILL SURVIVE” ! *
________
It was MMMC’s 8th Convocation yesterday, for Batch 15 and 16. At Dewan Seri Negeri. Don’t ask me where cause i oso dunno where it is. But many lecturers from Manipal flew over to attend. Felt so nice to meet them. Makes me miss life in Manipal. Like, seriously. URGH.. but life goes on..
Yeah well this one doesnt really count as new, nor is it a toy. =P But it’s one of the 2 newest addition to my room! Welcome~
HP Deskjet F2410, sold for RM149.00 at Tesco. It’s an all-in-one printer. Worth the money la. AND one week after buying it the price went up RM20 to RM169.00 d! hehehe..
Next one the list..
Now this baby is new. Bought it last thursday (27/5/2010) at RM230 *ouch*
hehehe..
What to do. surgery stressful ma. So need something to destress. So what better way to achieve that than to come home everyday to a powerful woofer and excellent mid and high-range drivers! hehehehe..
Anyway
Long weekend is up. No more public holiday till the end of semester. Damn.. nothing else to look forward to d.
Oh and i’m 50% done with surgery posting in semester 6. 3 more weeks to go. 21 days. Still sounds like so far away..
view from hostel. What are they doing? See below :
They’re building the golf course. Laying the carpeted grass. Or something like that la.
Yeah, the geniuses at admin are building a mini golf course at the small lot of empty land next to our hostel. Pffffttt.. rather than improving the facilities (e.g. building a cafeteria, or even just buying a TV WITH A WORKING ASTRO decoder and card), they’ve decided we would benefit better with a mini golf course. Next to the hostel. And really near the carparks too.
I guess when it’s ready a lot of hostel and car windows should have many additional cracks/holes on them?
Genius indeed.
by the block test today.
Even though the paper is set for final year students, I think these questions i should’ve been able to answer. But.. argh. The consolation would be that it doesnt really count much. So main effect would only be a hurt pride. =S
Damn.
Entering 3rd week of surgery. 1st day of this week has passed, and there’s wesak day holiday on friday. So effectively 3 more days for this week. MUST… PULL.. THROUGH!
Took this outside my window yesterday evening. Peace and quiet. Wonder when will i get to enjoy that? I miss peace and quiet. Miss not having to wake up at 6.15am in the morning and coming back only at 5.30-6pm. Miss not having a backlog of stuff to read or to do.
Soooo sorry guys,
life’s busy here. Like, REALLY busy.
Especially when i’m now in Surgery posting.
6 weeks of super busy life, of which only 1 week has passed.
Hope i can pull through.
Long tuesday ahead. Muar posting means waking up at 6am for the bus at 7am, reaching college at 1.45pm means no lunch, then full lecture till 5pm, PLUS an extra class on physical examination by Dr Aung from 5, estimated to finish by 6.30pm earliest.
Know anywhere i can get IV caffeine? =.=
Update from Melaka (It wouldn’t be acceptable to be at Melaka to not visit this now would it? =) )
Hey guys. Sorry for the serious lack of updates. Life’s been super busy for the past week. FYI it was the first week of posting, and already I feel overwhelmed. Guess it’s a huge transition from the relatively sedentary life at Manipal.. So ppl who are still at Manipal, take note : CHERISH IT!
So.. what’s new?
hmmm
1. Bought a new bicycle ( basically the only vehicle transportation that i can afford ). Blue again, the one at Manipal also blue. 18-speed with front and back suspension. =)
2. The boxes that we cargo-ed back from Manipal has arrived (finally!) on 31st March 2010; and if you see the ratio of the man to the number of boxes you can imagine how MANY boxes were there.. whew. After carrying boxes back I’m happy to announce that so far I have not developed any visible cough impulse on the abdominal wall.
---
basically that’s it for now. the rest of my week was occupied by postings.
My daily schedule would be like waking up at 6.30am in the morning, reach college by 7.30am for the bus to Melaka GH, posting starts at 8am till 12.30pm, then come back to college for lunch, then theory class from 2pm to 5pm. DAILY. well except fridays where afternoon classes start at 2.30pm instead of 2pm. The only saving grace would be that we have the Saturdays off.. But yesterday flew by so quickly. S-I-G-H!
Anyway back to doing my piling homework! need to finish it ASAP.. sigh. again.
Warning : this post is a bit photo heavy. Sorry.
Travelled to Malacca. First took a flight to KL on 19th March using AirAsia.
Landed at 2pm, plane was late.
Then checked into LCCT’s Tune hotel. Really a small hotel.
It’s a new hotel, everything looks quite new.. just that a bit small..
hardly got place to walk at the sides, my luggage fully fits at the space next to the bed.. same goes for the other side. small indeed. but clean and comfortable, that’s for sure.
Door to toilet n shower. Note : this door have no lock. haha.
Time: 3pm.
Went to LCCT to take a bus to Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi. Waited till 3.30pm only bus comes. Urgh.
Reached BBST at 4.30pm.
Actually planned to go to the CIMB bank at BBST to reactivate my account, plus have them do something about my atm card as it only displays “Device Failure” at every atm i try it on. =.=”
But when i arrive i see this
Closed. Freakin bank closes at 4pm on Fridays. Should’ve taken a taxi after checking into the hotel at 3pm. DAMN! now i may need a trip to BBST JUST to reactivate my account, since it is my account holding branch. DAMMIT.
5pm – decided to go KL n do some shopping. SInce nth to do at hotel also.
took airport liner to nilai KTM, then KTM to Bandar Tasik Selatan, then Starline to Stn Hang Tuah.
Feels damn weird re-using this method to go to KL, it’s been 2 and a half years since the last time i took this route.
Feels so tourist-y carrying a dslr around town. but at least i didnt point the camera everywhere n clicked. haha.
Went to LowYat Plaza, the place is very different from the last time i visited it. Lotsa new shops. Bought a Cooler Master Notepal W1 for RM72. =)
Wanted to walk to Petaling Street but halfway there it rained like it has never rained for months. Stuck at stupid bus-stop for nearly half hour. Then decided to give up and walked back to the nearest monorail station in the rain. Guess God just don’t want me to shop anymore eh?
Trying to capture moving cars but apparently the traffic light was RED throught the 4 sec exposure. haha. FAILED. But i like the starry effect created at the street lights. =)
20th March
Took taxi from LCCT to Melaka, coupon taxi from LCCT, costs RM159 per trip. Note 2: The same trip costs RM 230 if you ask the travel counter at Tune Hotel LCCT to get the taxi for you.
The taxi trip was uneventful, i was asleep through most of the trip. =P
Reached Boys’ hostel at around 1pm, Aaron sent me and Francis here. =) then after putting stuff in the room Aaron sent us to Tesco to buy the necessities.
Long long receipt after buying my stuff at Tesco.
Grand total of RM 351.75
Luckily Maybank Debit Card is accepted. Else certainly don’t have enough to pay for these stuff..
______
The *My* Room. Melaka Manipal Medical College Manipal Campus Guys’ Hostel.
Study table, bookshelf, A/C (turn right for toilet)
I like this window shade. =) Chose it over plain ol’ curtain. haha.
Basin in the toilet. Toilet bowl’s photo is barred from this blog since the previous tennant obviously did not wash his toilet with sufficient frequency. =S
That’s it!
Sorry for cramming everything here. haha. =P
