End of 5th Posting

19th January 2010. The last day of my posting at T.M.A Pai Rotary Hospital, Karkala. Was kinda enjoyable day because basically we finished our end posting exams on the day before. All that was left was 1 presentation about Hepatosplenomegaly by my group, and that’s that. We didn’t even go to the ward. =P

So what did we do? Camwhore of course! There’re like 2 dSLRs in my group.. so basically there’re a lot of photo-taking involved. =P

and this concept is pretty cute too.. haha

DSC_2572

choochoo! let’s make a train!

DSC_2655

It was soooo relaxed that the classroom for Medicine was actually used to..

DSC_2657Watch HOUSE! Sure is cool watching these stuff on big screens. Although the colour reproduction of the projector isnt that suitable for watching movies/dramas.. but better than nothing, right?

DSC_2725 And.. with a projector around, who’d let go of the chance to take a snap with the oh-so-cute-girl you like from that drama? xD

 DSC_2779

A snap with the wonderful faculties of Medicine at Karkala as well as Group F! =)

DSC_2624

Well Karkala, you will be missed. You will. Just not now. =P

Last Official Function at Manipal for Batch 21

It was the prize giving ceremony by MMMC for the various interbatch sports and cultural events for the year 2009 last saturday, 16/1/2010

I guess the dean must be pissed because there are sooo little people who showed up. Initially i didnt intend to go as well, because i had 2 freakin long medicine case sheets to write that was due on monday. But halfway through writing, several text messages came telling us to go to Hotel Valley View ASAP because there were more lecturers than students.. =.=”

DSC_2416

And when i got there.. this guy was already giving his speech. So damn embarassing okay..

Happy New Year!

It’s the new year again. Happy new year people!

Yeah yeah it’s already 3rd day of 2010. But there’s still 362 more days!

Erm. What has happened since my last update? The usual, nothing new.

1/1/2010 – Posting as usual. No holiday. Damn sad. The only consolation is that it’s just half day Udupi posting instead of travelling to Karkala. Isnt there an association of some sort that we can appeal to because of this? If there isnt there should be one! They just rob us students of our holidays, and expect to get away with it? Is there any justice left? =P

But anyway.. I wont be celebrating any more new year here so.. to hell with it.. None of my business anymore. lol

2/1/2010 – Also posting, but the good thing is at least it’s also half day. And the doc was in a good mood. So not bad lar. And also, Medical Ethics class will be ending after next saturday. Yay!

3/1/2010 – First Sunday of the year! The only day of the week that i don’t have to wake up at 7am for class.

Oh and today is the birthday of my beloved sis, who is currently at home for holiday.

Happy birthday, Sis!

You’re OLD(er)! =P muahahahaha!

Last Post for 2009

It’s already 2010 in M’sia.

Here in Manipal, there’s still 1 hour to go.

Then it’s the end of 2009.

Actually i had the intention to do a review of what i did during 2009, but there’s not enough time left for that probably. haha. So.. just check back the 2009 blog archives la. Easier.

But.. it’s definitely sad though. Why?

I think we’re in the only freakin country  in the whole world that DOES NOT HAVE HOLIDAY ON NEW YEAR’S DAY!

yeah, that’s right.

What the hell man..

But don’t care la. 44 days left at India sorta compensates for it. Urgh.

The only consolation is like it’s only half day posting tomorrow.. =)

enough complaining i guess.

Happy 2010

to my readers, even to those who are just blog-hopping..,

May 2010 be a year filled with joy and happiness and achievements and all the nice things in the world. =)

signing off for the year..

Ta~ =)

Thank you!

To the kind person that recharged my Airtel number..

Thank you =)

even if the recharge is by mistake. Still, THANKS! =)

Merry Christmas-ed

This year the X’mas party was held at Premier Residency instead of Rooftop of Snack Shack.. there was more work to be done but defintely, much more enjoyable!

Plus.. it was our last x’mas celebration here in Manipal.. of course must make it memorable n fun! haha

DSC_1739

There was the BBQ, the home-cooked foods, the curry puffs, the chrysanthemum tea, sea coconut, and the highlight of the night…

DSC_1695 Mr Snowman!

First time had an X’mas party with a snowman present! haha.. Damn cute lo

And there was a gift exchange ceremony..

An apple a day keeps the doctor away

apple

Not by eating them..

Effective only if you know how to use it.. Hahaha

Cos according to Dr Santosh Pai, you keep the doctor away by throwing the daily apple at the doctor. LOL

And according to him also, Bananas are the number 1 fruit! Apples were promoted when the British colonized India as well as other countries because apples were from their own country.. hahaha hence the line “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”

kekeke

Wait.

Could he be talking about.. another Apple instead? =P

98-Apple-LogoThis one not only keeps the doctor away.. also will keep the money away from your wallet.. =S

Here’s the post that i promised, one that’s about what has happened in December up to now.

2nd December, 2009

First of all.. there was the MMMC Interbatch Indian Dance competition.. Of course, i wasnt involved in anyway, but it was significant for me as it was the first time i brought my D3000 out.. hehe =P

DSC_0302The stage @ KMC Greens..

Ignore the background that says Convocation 2009, as it was left behind by the KMC convo.. hehe

12th College Day & Awards Ceremony, MMMC

This year it was a bit special, as it wasn’t held at Chaitya Hall, Hotel Valley View. Instead it was held at Syndicate Bank Golden Jubilee Hall.. Plus there was the High Commissioner of Malaysia at India joining us..

DSC_0649

I didnt have my camera with me throughout the ceremony, so there wasn’t much photo to show.. but I have to say the lecturer’s performances were really great! Definitely one of the things that I’ll miss when i leave Manipal..

DSC_0663 Can you see me? haha =P

DSC_0663 -2

It’s my blog. Of course I’m allowed to post my own photos. =P

Not exactly the clearest photo.. haha.

After that there was a lot of photo-taking involved.. It’s inappropriate to post them all here as it would take ages to upload as well as to view.. You can always check them out at my Facebook albums..

=)

5th December, 2009

Lagenda 09 + M’sian Food Fest.

I didnt take photo for this event. The ending fashion show was a disaster as well. But.. don’t care la. This lagenda is one that I’d wish to forget. =S

Interbatch basketball matches are over already. Results:

Against Batch 23 : Won

Against Batch 24 : Lost

Against Batch 25 + BDS : WON!

Against Batch 22 : Lost

Anyway, it’s over already, and we’ve managed to secure third place. So.. not bad la i suppose. Overall i think the team were wonderful this year, definitely improved a lot compared to the past 2 years.. haha

Paed end posting

DIE man..

whole lot to study, so little time. All thanks to Lagenda, as well as the so called majority’s decision for the holiday to be on 28th Dec instead. WTF.

November 30, 2009

Thanks, 25

A little souvenir from b25 from the basketball match just now..

DSC_0280

And you know what, this is like the mildest “cheapest” souvenir. See Liang got a more expensive one, two abrasion wounds at both left and right forearm. Tatt.. i think he’s got bruises everywhere too.

Thanks guys.

Oh and uh.. Thanks for making the win more meaningful.

Right in your friggin ugly face(s).

Boiling hot la wei..

This post is supposed to be titled : Why Malaysian Lecturers Hate Indian Books.. but not very catchy if like that =P

DSC02252

Was reading about fever today. Came up with this :

“The definition of fever of unknown origin (FUO) is fever >101°C lasting for 3 weeks or more for which no cause is apparent after 1 week of outpatient investigation.”

Wow. 101°C eh. That’s 1°C hotter than the water i boil using my kettle.

=.=”

New posting

Currently finished the first day of my third posting, Paediatrics postings at Dr. TMA Pai Rotary Hospital, Karkala.

Means i completed Community Medicine postings yesterday..

Com med was fun. and not very stressful. Now go to paediatrics posting starting to feel stressed again. And for 3 postings consecutively there will be Udupi postings at the weekends. Tiring la.  But on the bright side..

Yay! add 1 more day to for the countdown to CNY!

On a side note, it’s 36 more days to Christmas. like, wow. How did 2009 go by so quickly, unnoticed? What did i manage to achieve? Besides academics.. i guess nth much.. besides being able to make someone to hate me enough to ask me to get out of their life.. Where i still don’t know what did i do wrong.. argh.. Guess that' would be some sort of sick, twisted achievement.. =.= Maybe next year can attempt to double that number.. and the following year more..

Anyway..

“You know that you desperately need a reformat when your Windows 7 installation runs way faster and smoother than your XP installation"
–[v]kashin-, 2009

I’ll stick to Windows 7 for now. Until it bugs me with Windows Live Messenger disconnects as frequent as my respiratory rate.

Anyhow credits has to be given to Microsoft, for being able to slim down Vista so much to produce a much light-weighted and faster Windows 7. Kudos.

D-G of Health’s visit to Manipal

13112009497

A signboard was erected yesterday at the entrance of Manipal.edu and Library building.. It does make one wonder, who’s coming?

*roll the drums*

Director-General of Health, and President of Malaysian Medical Council,

Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Haji Mohd Ismail Bin Merican!

OMG!

DSC02104

So generally there’s a session for us to meet with Tan Sri at Chaitya Hall, Hotel Valley View.. Before that we had light refreshments at another hall.. but i  didnt have photos of it.. hehe

He came mainly for the inauguration of the MMMC Student Council..

 Student Council

DSC02120
Tan Sri delivering his speech

The speech is.. well.. very entertaining, very different from any speech I’ve heard before.. Like our dean has rightly pointed out, this would be the first time people would say “Noo….” when the person delivering the speech wants to end the speech. This really shows how we enjoyed listening to him, and his humorous stories..

So in the end, what did i learned?

I need to get a PDA phone. Why?

“Patients nowadays are more informed than they were before with the advent of information technology. Doctors must keep themselves updated with the latest developments in the field, to stay relevant.”

So.. If the patient asks about something new that I’ve never heard about, I can always ask to be excused to go to the toilet, and go search for info on the phone!

xP

Coming soon..

Something big.. =)

Looking forward to it.

Community Medicine

Havent been blogging a lot lately. There’s like basketball training at late nights quite frequently. Usually from 10pm to midnight. Yeah i know it’s short. but usually after coming back i’m like totally drained.. If this goes on probably this old body of mine will break apart soon.. SIGH..

Anyway back to the topic..

I’ve had my community medicine posting since last thursday. Pretty cool.. Feels like primary school kids going on school trips around Manipal.. but the furthest we’ve had to travel is to Karkala, ironically to orientate us to the hospital.. hmmm..

The highlight of the posting :

DSC01913

A day of acitivty at Asha Nilaya, a home for the mentally challenged children..

DSC01922

Even though they are slow learners, they are as innocent as any other children.. They are as adorable as any other children..

DSC01941 Participating in a game of Tug of War

DSC02027 Then this game requires them to transport water-filled balloons from one pail to another..

but.. as the norm dictates.. when water balloons are involved..

DSC02066

The kids would play with it.. but that’s not all.. no..

DSC02071

Their teachers would start throwing water balloons..

DSC02086

Then all hell broke loose… WAR!!!

DSC02087

That was part of the morning with the children.. lazy to blog about the rest. =P

DSC02300

But it definitely was a nice experience.. =)

Windows 7 Ultimate

Currently writing this blog on the final version of Windows 7 Ultimate. Source? *cough cough*  =P It’s not much different from the RC from what i can observe, the main difference is the availability of several cool themes on Microsoft’s website.

7 is very much faster compared to Vista. Even after i’ve loaded it with my usual array of software. Thumbs up to Microsoft.

However things get a bit sluggish when I access flash heavy sites e.g. Happy Farm.. Maybe it’s Chrome’s fault but it isnt sluggish enough to be unacceptable.

Love the new taskbar. Less clutter.

Probably gonna stick with it a bit longer. =)

oh and uhm.. End-posting exam is on 27th Oct. Like very fast the first posting will be over soon. After that I’ll have like 3 weeks of break from super bumpy rides to Karkala.. thank goodness. need some time to allow my spinal column to recover from the daily traumas.

October 16, 2009

Hege diri?

Wow. Seems like ages since i last updated this blog. Sorry to all. hmm.. was lazy to blog during the holidays.. Then after coming back here.. quite a lot of things were happening..

Well.. I’m currently on my 5th semester at Manipal, which means it’s the last 1/2 years here before I go back to M’sia for GOOD. yay!

DSC01525

My schedule

If you are able to see into the fine print, It says that comprehensive examination till 12th Feb 2010, and vacation commences on 13th Feb. In other words,

I’ll BE BACK FOR CHINESE NEW YEAR!

woohoo!

----

13102009373 Before entering Operation Theatre.. XD

I’ve completed like 2 weeks of posting. Basically the entire experience is interesting, cause it’s the first time I’ve had direct contact with the patients. The hands-on experience is definitely helpful. But the biggest barrier i suppose would be communication.. So we’d have to pick up some Kannada, else we’d be really zuo-bai-ing everytime we’re posted at the wards. Urgh.

oh, and i witnessed like 2 deliveries yesterday. It was fast, uncomplicated “express delivery”. Faster than your FedEx or or DHL. seriously. One was a baby boy, the other a girl. And i think instead of the delivery, the part where the episiotomy was sutured back looks like it’s more painful for the mother. =S

Had our posting at Udupi today.

16102009389Group F

16102009392 Yeah. We had our lessons ON A CORRIDOR.

How freakin special is that?
